What's your go to BBQ Rub?

When you fire up your grill or smoker, what is your go to seasoning? For me it all depends on the meat. I have a go to for chicken, beef and pork. Overtime and years of playing around with my own seasoning vs store bought I found what has worked best. It also matters if your grilling the meat or smoking the meat. Smoking meat sets the seasoning on the meat much differently than grilling. Here's my list of ingredients I look for based on the type of meat.


Beef Brisket-Salt, Pepper, Garlic

Porkbutt/Picnic- Salt, Pepper, onion powder, garlic granulated, paprika, chipotle powder

Pork Ribs-Brown Sugar, paprika, Cayenne powder.

Chicken-garlic powder, brown sugar, salt, pepper, thyme.
